Project MyWay #24–Blue Silk Sundress

 

This was a quick and easy project. Any sundress pattern with a fitted silhouette would work, I used New Look 6938 which has been discontinued.

I took the bodice of View C and the straps of View E and added a 9″ ruffle to the hem. I saw a cute Stella McCartney dress with a deep ruffle at the hem in a magazine. It was a little over my budget!

I hemmed the ruffle with a technique that I saw on on expensive RTW skirt (hem first, then sew side seams) outlined in my post How to Use a Narrow Hem Foot.

I have a bright pink short sleeved sweater to wear over the dress when it’s not very warm or in the air conditioning. Next week it should finally be warm enough in Chicago to wear a dress like this!
