Wow, that’s a cute dress. Since I don’t know how to design by draping on a dress form, I’d start with a pattern with a similar neckline and a raglan sleeve. Then I’d pre-pleat the fabric and then sew it up. I’d put a seam at the waist, I don’t know how else you’d pleat the dress in different directions.

I’d defiantly try it out of some old stashed fabric first!

Hi Diane and thanks!–I used a cotton/lycra knit in heather gray which I purchased at Fishman’s Fabrics (http://www.fishmansfabrics.com). They don’t have an online store per se, but if you contact them you can describe the fabric and purchase it. The great thing about Fishman’s is that they stock tons of high quality, basic fabrics in lots of colors, it’s my go to place for fine cottons, wools and silks in solid colors.
