If I were challenged to wear white pants every day of the summer I could definitely do it! White pants can fit almost any occasion…here is my ultimate white pant collection:
White silk trousers–these are perfect for any time you want to get dressed up a little or a lot and they’re great for early in the summer when you’re not ready to bare your legs. Pair them with a silk top or sweater to wear out for dinner or pair them with a sexy top or dressy jacket (think brocade or embroidered) for a night at the symphony or a wedding. Buy the best pair of silk trousers you can afford (you’ll wear them forever) and make sure they’re long enough to wear with high heeled sandals or stilettos and drapey (loose) enough to show off the beautiful fabric. Be sure they are lined! No pocket or underwear show through. This pair is from Armani (on sale at Neiman Marcus.com), the creme de la creme of beautiful tailoring!
Boot cut jeans or chinos–either of these work for a causal night out, when you want to kick it a notch above blue jeans. I love white pants with bright tops, try these with layerd t-shirts in bright colors or a print sweater (wear a white cami underneath to tone down the print factor). Black looks sophisticated with white and it’s so easy to throw on a black knit top, black heeled sandals and chunky silver jewelry with white jeans and look instantly chic. The weight of jeans and chinos calls for a heeled sandal that is on the chunky side, espadrilles or gladiator-ish sandals would look great with these. These are Joe’s Jeans available at Shop Bop.com. and the chinos are from Trina Turk at Nordstrom.com.
Straight leg jeans–day or night, when it’s too chilly for skirts or shorts, white jeans look summery and fresh. Pair them with a striped t-shirt and a blue jean jacket or create a monochrome look with a linen color sweater or top and brown sandals. Be sure they are on the long side, like in the photo, with a little bit of bunching at the ankle, they look best with flat leather sandals. These are J. Crew matchstick jeans.
Boyfriend jeans–when it’s hot and sticky, these are a great alternative to shorts. A tank top tucked-in with a belt is a great look as is an un-tucked fitted short sleeved shirt (chambray?). This is an easy, comfortable look–make sure the fit is generous without being sloppy. Yes, you can wear your sneakers with these ,or casual sandals. These jeans are Rich and Skinny at Nordstrom.com and yes, they are rather expensive.
